Community Grant fund is a game changer for Town Football Club

Wet weather training gets the go ahead for Llanfairfechan Town Football Club thanks to funding from the Conwy Valley and North West Wales Coast Community Rail Partnership Community Grant Fund.

Llanfairfechan Town Football Club received £968.42 from the Community Rail Partnership’s Community Grant Fund, which was launched in September 2022 in partnership with Transport for Wales. The funding enabled the club to hire a ‘Verti-Drain’ machine, preventing sitting water on the pitch during autumn and winter.

The Football Club was originally founded in 1870 and has served as an accessible source of physical and mental wellbeing for the community for over 150 years. As the Club teams become ever more popular with players, the pitch and equipment are seeing an increase in usage. The funding has also allowed for the purchase of new footballs, which were often getting damaged during play and training.

Dewi Williams, Treasurer of Llanfairfechan Town Football Club said: “The Community Grant Fund has allowed us to continue with matches through the wetter months thanks for the drainage treatment paid for by the grant. This means more football played by men and women in the community.”
