Community Rail Partnership awarded Accreditation

Conwy Valley and North West Wales Coast Community Rail Partnership Conwy Valley and North West Wales Coast Community Rail Partnership (conwyvalleyrailway.co.uk) have been successful in securing accreditation from Welsh Governments’ Department for Transport for the work they plan to carry out in local communities, which include the Conwy Valley and the coast from Llandudno Junction to Holyhead, over the next 3 years.

The Conwy Valley and North West Wales Coast Community Rail Partnership work in collaboration with Transport for Wales and is hosted by Creating Enterprise a social enterprise who demonstrate a strong social value investing in communities, volunteers and finding employment to bring about positive change across the region.

Rail Officer and Creating Enterprise employee Karen Williams, together with the support of Partnership Chairman, Cllr Philip Evans and TfW Community Rail Manager Melanie Lawton, has created an activity plan, which must cover the following four criteria as set out by DfT:

  • Provide a voice for the community
  • Promote sustainable, healthy, and accessible travel
  • Bring communities together and supporting diversity and inclusion
  • Support social and economic development

Karen said “I am very pleased and proud to have had my activity plan agreed by DfT and I’m so excited to start these projects now that restrictions are easing, and we are able to get back out into the communities. It will be fantastic to deliver the projects I have planned, and see the transformation on peoples’ lives”

Conwy Valley and North West Wales CRP Chir, Cllr Philip Evans said “This is significant recognition of the Partnership’s organisation and programme.  The accreditation provides us and our partners with reassurance that our aims are realistic and meet the aspirations of the Community Rail family.”
